Summer in the Garden Hello, and welcome to the July edition of “The Brambles Journal” – Summer in the Garden. This edition I’ve decided on an updated style. I hope you like :) I thought the sunflowers needed to be shared in the largest size I could! The sunflowers looked amazing, and I grew from seed Little Leo’s and Giants, and they certainly brightened up the garden. Summer was a busy time in the garden. Lots of flowers, young birds and busy parent birds. The squirrels, of course, were frequent visitors too :) I am a little constrained for time at…

Find out all about what’s happening this spring in my garden and out and about in the local area below. The Brambles Journal – June 2017 To…
Beautiful Spring Hello, and welcome to the April edition of “The Brambles Journal” – Beautiful Spring. I love this time of year as everything in the garden and nature transforms. Not only are the flowers amazing, with so many gorgeous colours, the trees too are a joy to look at. They also have an amazing number of colours. It looks to me like no tree type is the same colour of green! This month catch up with more from the blackbirds, my poetry, a word search, and this month a new feature “out and about”. I’d planned to include this section…

The Beauty of Winter Hello, and welcome to the February edition of “The Brambles Journal” – The Beauty of Winter. Also this month catch up on the blackbirds, more unusual visitors to the garden, a favourite recipe and a trip back in time to last year to see what was happening. Winter in the Garden Hello, and welcome to the new style journal for The Brambles. I’m really excited by this new magazine format. It’s been in my head for so long, and now finally it’s here :) I started working on the style and the best way to share back in December last year. Progress has been a little slower than I hoped as I came down with the cough/cold thing that’s been circulating. Finally getting rid of it now! January has been busy in the garden, with lots of visits from hungry birds. They are always such a pleasure to…
It’s All About The Blackbirds! As promised in my last post, this one it’s all about the blackbirds! The blackbirds are around all the time. Sometimes they come “asking” for mealworms or fat pellets. This means they either chook lots if you’re not noticing them or they sit in the garden looking at me when I’m in the kitchen getting a drink or cooking dinner! As you can probably guess they always get something! The last few weeks have been hectic in the garden with lots of birds everywhere, and I love watching them! They are eating there way through…
As The Leaves Fall… Hello :) I have no excuse for not posting for so long, other than I’ve spent a lot of time collecting all the leaves that have fallen! There has been some windy days over the past few weeks and each time there is a new deluge of leaves. Most of them have fallen now, but I’ve a bit of a backlog to collect! As the trees are now bare it’s much easier to watch the squirrels. There has been quite a bit of chasing going on, with a number of “death defying” leaps between trees! They are…
October Catch Up Hello :) It’s time to catch up on October at The Brambles. I can’t believe it’s been three weeks since I last posted. Time flies by so fast! Things are beginning to slow down in the garden, but there are a few highlights: The blackbirds are back :) I’m not sure where they hide out during September but I don’t see them much. There are lots of interesting spiders to take a look at. The good thing about this time of year is that they set up their webs in set places around the garden and then often hang…
