Summer is Here
Hello, and welcome to the June edition of “The Brambles Journal” – Summer is Here. All the flowers are blooming and the garden in June was graced with lots of colour and some sunshine too! Somehow May’s edition got missed but I’m hoping to catch up in a back issue.
This month catch up with more from the blackbirds, a word search, “out and about” and the recipe of the month is back.

Brilliant magazine Natasha, I love this because you just flick the pages like a real mag, you have so much going on in your garden, my hubby looked up that beetle thing its a weevil (curlionidae) it doesn’t look very nice I hope its not eating your plants, I am plagued with slugs at the moment my strawberry pot has a beautiful yellow begonia in and trailing lobelia, but they have started to eat the leaves so I have large holes everywhere. Its nice to see your blackbirds ours have left for now , I love the place you visited I would enjoy going there, we joined the national Trust so I’m hoping to see more places in the country as well as historic places, not seen many butterflies at all again this year but I have lots of bees on my lavender, I love the recipe for the banana special that’s my type of food heaven. Thank you Mary for your lovely comment. Gill too shared info on the bug being a weevil and it looks like it’s the case. I hope it wasn’t munching too hard either! I think the slugs have already eaten everything they like. I have a lot of hostas, which distracts them for a little while! I hope they don’t eat too much more in your garden. August arrived and my blackbirds have also disappeared. I assume they are now moulting so they like to keep a bit more hidden. The gardens are small but amazing all year round. They have opera’s there in the summer. I’ve not been to any, but such a lovely setting for them. I’m lucky to have quite a few NT places and hour or less away so I go quite often throughout the year. West Green Gardens are the closest followed by The Vyne near Basingstoke. I’m sure you’ll love everywhere you visit :) The insects have come and go but it is quite busy now, as the herbs are flowering. It’s great to hear you love the recipe.
