September in the Garden and Local Area What happened during September in your garden or local area? I’d love to hear about it :) Have fun enjoying the nature that surrounds you and I’ll be back soon. It’s All About The Blackbirds! As promised in my last post, this one it’s all about the blackbirds! The blackbirds are around all the time. Sometimes they come “asking” for mealworms or fat pellets. This means they either chook lots if you’re not noticing them or they sit in the garden looking at me when I’m in the kitchen getting a drink or cooking dinner! As you can probably guess they always get something! The last few weeks have been hectic in the garden with lots of birds everywhere, and I love watching them! They are eating there way through…
As The Leaves Fall… Hello :) I have no excuse for not posting for so long, other than I’ve spent a lot of time collecting all the leaves that have fallen! There has been some windy days over the past few weeks and each time there is a new deluge of leaves. Most of them have fallen now, but I’ve a bit of a backlog to collect! As the trees are now bare it’s much easier to watch the squirrels. There has been quite a bit of chasing going on, with a number of “death defying” leaps between trees! They are…
October Catch Up Hello :) It’s time to catch up on October at The Brambles. I can’t believe it’s been three weeks since I last posted. Time flies by so fast! Things are beginning to slow down in the garden, but there are a few highlights: The blackbirds are back :) I’m not sure where they hide out during September but I don’t see them much. There are lots of interesting spiders to take a look at. The good thing about this time of year is that they set up their webs in set places around the garden and then often hang…
Cheeky Grey Squirrel Hi :) As September came to a close I spotted a cheeky grey squirrel tucking into the sunflower seeds. I’ve had this feeder since the summer and it didn’t take them long to work out the best ways of getting the seed from it! I don’t think the greenfinches are overly impressed by them, they don’t get in the queue and wait their turn! Out of all the birds the greenfinches use it most. Although the collard doves often manage to use it too. Sometimes a pair of them will be on it together! It’s a short…
September in the Garden Hi :) As September in the Garden continues, the flowers are still flowering and the insects still visit. However, these are both getting less in number. The leaves are dropping, but this has yet to pick up its pace. It was great to have some perfect weather for getting out in the garden to start the tidy up before the winter. Still a bit to do, but it’s looking so much tidier already. I finally got around to catching up from the week before the one just ended. Too much time spent in the garden rather…
Hi :) It’s a short one today, actually it’s an extra from the week before as I’ve not been around much this week. But you’ll see it’s exciting. I saw a badger in the garden, which is brilliant!!! It’s been a really long time since I last saw one. Loved watching it have a nose around, in a chilled out way :) To view this journal page larger, click on the image to open in Flickr. This weeks pages were created with my own photos. The wonderful graphics are by Lynne Anzelc Designs and DaisyTrail and commercial use fonts available…
Delicate Dandelion Hello :) This week I came across a dandelion, which looked so beautiful and delicate, I just had to go grab my camera and take a picture. There had just been a few spots of rain and these glistened on it, giving it an even more magical feel. Even as the flowers go over they still look beautiful. The garden is getting lots of little bird visitors at the moment. There are loads of greenfinches, and some goldfinches even turned up too this week! They all love the sunflower seeds and every time I look out at the moment there…
All Change Hi :) It’s all change this week as it has felt partly like summer and partly like autumn. Depending on what calendar is used autumn has started, or hasn’t quite yet started! The meteorological calendar has autumn beginning at the start of September and the astronomical calendar on the 22nd September. I’ve started to notice a change already. While I was gardening last weekend the leaves of the silver birch were sporadically falling. This fall has continued and the leaves are more noticeably starting to change colour. The mornings have also started to have a slight chill to them, even on…
Hello :) This journal page was created as an example for a new scrapbooking challenge I’m running at DaisyTrail. The challenge is Our Natural World and this months topic is “Scrap Your Garden and/or Local Area. I hope this makes you smile as much as it did me, even though it’s my cabbages they are eating! To view this journal page larger, click on the image to open in Flickr. The challenge only started yesterday but already there are lots of super layouts.
